I can promise you this – just one hour of online consultation with me will save you hundreds of hours of inefficient studying and confusion.
Tell me if this sounds familiar. You study some German, do some exercises, do some DuoLingo, maybe listen to a podcast, but your ability doesn’t seem to increase, even after weeks of study. This is not your fault. It’s actually normal. It doesn’t mean you are bad at languages. You’re just using the wrong methods and wrong resources.
Don’t get me wrong. There are some great resources out there. But many teachers and textbooks make things far more complex than they need to be. Sometimes all you need is for someone to explain the concept in a way that “clicks” for you.
Most aspects of German are in fact very simple, but it takes an expert, someone who has invested thousands of hours into understanding these concepts at a high level, to explain them in an intuitive and easy way. If you’ve read the articles on my blog, you will know what I mean.
I can be the person you turn to for all of your questions relating to German grammar, and how to learn German as efficiently as possible.
What are the sessions like?
My sessions are quite different from normal language classes. Instead of working through a textbook together or doing grammar exercises and speaking practice like most language classes, I will target your specific weaknesses and focus on improving your study methods and motivation.
Most people just don’t have the time or money to pay a private teacher to teach them an entire language. It would take way too long.
Even worse, people spend hundreds or even thousands on language courses that promise a lot and deliver very little.
Instead, you can have a few sessions with me, and I will give you a good foundation to for becoming an independent learner, and make sure you aren’t wasting your time with inefficient methods. As well as straightening out your approach, I can clarify any trouble spots for you – case, word order, adjective endings, meaning of specific words in different contexts, and so on.
How do I prepare for the session?
You will find my sessions most beneficial if you already have some experience studying German. Perhaps you are enrolled in a class or are learning by self study, and have a level somewhere between A1 and C1. If you’re an absolute beginner, I recommend you study the foundations first.
As well as already being familiar with the basics, I recommend you collect together some questions or sticking points. These might be things like case, word order, adjective endings, separable prefix verbs, specific words and so on.
It would also be fantastic if you bring some of your writing to the session. Something like a diary entry describing what you did at the weekend would be perfect. Writing uncovers people’s mistakes much more clearly than speaking does. I will be able to use this writing sample as a way to diagnose your problem areas, so I know where to focus to give you the most value in the shortest time possible.
How much do the sessions cost?
The sessions last 60 minutes and cost €25 / $25.
I’m also happy to chat to you and assess your German or answer a few questions for 30 minutes totally for free (just drop me a quick message on Instagram.)
Where do the sessions take place?
The sessions take place on Google Meet. It’s browser-based so you won’t need to install any software. You’ll receive a link before the session.
